In 2006 Furr created 4 paintings which exhibited a more expressive style in their treatment of the background . Figurative subjects appear against the backdrop of expressive larger brushstrokes. The three other paintings of this time are :"Dove 2006","Silent Wish 2006","Rachel Stevens 2006".

This expressive brushwork appears later in the Furr Mankowitz Joint works of 2017 when Furr painted of treated photographic images on canvas and paper.
