In 2021, during the lockdown period, Furr worked in his then studio ‘Richmond Atelier’ on Richmond Hill on a series of large scale paintings including Goya in the Prado and others but he also created a sculptural series using found objects.

His collaboration with the artist Lucy Bryant aka ‘Haus of Lucy’ resulted in the ‘Haus of Lucy/Furr’ ‘Gucci figures’ series of a number of modified ceramic busts.

The Gucci figures collection, conceived by Furr, involved modification of existing found ceramic/plaster or porcelain busts of male figures from history, changing them to appear in the latest Gucci hoodies with their associated colourful designs/motifs.

“I had seen the work of Lucy and what she was doing – pimping up old crockery and old paintings – with witty additions and thought about the Gucci hoody concept as an actual series. I liked the idea of taking famous sometimes mythical male figures and dressing them in high end fashion hoodies to make them appear exclusive “street. It is playing with time in a way and imagining these figures actually looking like this.” Furr said .

Furr selected the busts and chose the hoodies that would be depicted then sent them to Lucy Bryant aka Haus of Lucy to her studio in Brighton where she would create the hoodies for the busts.

Once the hoody for the Beethoven bust was created and the bust returned Furr then further modified and painted /gilded the head and hair.
