2005- The Great Draw, Robinsons
In 2005 Robinsons commissioned Furr to produce a commemorative work of Art featuring Tim Henman playing Fred Perry for Wimbledon A match between two British legends against a background of spectators going from the past to present with famous faces appearing in the watching crowd. Several hundred of the queuing public outside Centre Court, Wimbledon completed the giant 16ft x 9ft canvas. The painting was completed in a 'painting by numbers' style that was based on an original smaller scale oil painting (featured here) (5ft x 3ft) which hangs in Brtivic's boardroom in the UK.
'The Great Draw' won The Best Award for 'Best & Most Effective Long Term Communication Campaign' at the MCCA Awards (Marketing Communications Consultants Association) 2006 and received lots of media coverage at the time as it was a unique idea.
"I have fond memories of this project. It was an interesting challenge. I had to design and paint something that could be recreated by the queuing public. I created a painting that contained 32 colours that were then mixed and supplied over the course of the days. A team of art assistants helped the public paint the large canvas and it came out very well Everybody that put paint to canvas, enjoyed themselves even if they had never painted before".
